The Iberoamerican Academy of Management was founded in 1997 and is an affiliate of the Academy of Management. There are two primary objectives of the Iberoamerican Academy. First, to foster the general advancement of knowledge in the theory and practice of management among Iberoamerican scholars and/or those academics interested in Iberoamerican issues. Iberoamerica is defined broadly to include all of Latin America, Latino populations in North America, and Spain/Portugal. Second, to perform and support educational activities that contribute to intellectual and operational leadership in the field of management within an Iberoamerican context. The Iberoamerican Academy of Management has eight duly constituted committees, an advisory board and an executive committee consisting of a president and three vice-presidents.
Some of the highlights of the activities sponsored by the Iberoamerican Academy include:
Full day Saturday workshops at Academy of Management meetings
Since 1998 the Iberoamerican Academy organizes some Professional Development Workshop in the Annual Meetings the Academy of Management. These workshops have included a wide variety of topics relevant to Iberoamerican scholars, including how to publish in key management journals, language issues, privatization, economic development, cultural aspects, quality management and the like. Approximately 250 faculty members and doctoral students attend these workshios each year.

University and External Associations Liaison
The Iberomaerican Academy has been very active in contacting and visiting universities and associations in Iberoamerican countries that are involved in management related teaching and research. We anticipate that several joint projects should emerge in the future.
Awards and Recognition
The Iberoamerican Academy has established several awards to formally recognize excellence in its members and to further stimulate management research and teaching among Iberoamerican scholars.
