Luis A. Pérez-Batres
Luis A. Pérez-Batres is the Head of the Department of Management and Dean's Professor of Business Sustainability at Missouri State University. Previously, he served two terms as Department Chair, Senior Presidential Fellow, Administrative Liaison of Strategic Envisioning, and Strategic Planning Committee Member at Central Michigan University. His international business & sustainability research has been funded by the U.S. Department of Education and published in prestigious academic journals. Luis' academic experience includes a visiting scholar position at the University of Michigan's Erb Institute, where he served as a Faculty Affiliate. He is an editorial board member at Journal of World Business and an ad-hoc reviewer for other prominent outlets. Additionally, he has engaged in various entrepreneurial activities and non-profit organizational efforts – e.g., Board Member of HighScope Educational Research Foundation. He started his professional career as an accountant at a DuPont explosives plant. Then, he worked in the financial sector for large brokerage firms and banks such as BBVA. Luis is a graduate of Texas A&M University (PhD in Strategic Management), the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign (MS in Finance), and Monterrey Tech-Campus Laguna (BS in Accounting, summa cum laude). He played varsity football and other sports in high school. At the university level, he engaged in recreational soccer and the performing arts – e.g., he played the lead role in the stage play Cristina's Pact.
